Domination is one of the main parts of principal form based which is a must on an art or a design. Domination derives from a word dominance which means superiority. This kind of superiority will make a certain substance as a limelight.

Do you like one of the corners of your house? It can be so because it may be focal points of your house as if it whistling for everybody walks close to it. In the art term, domination is often called Centre of Interest, Focal Point and Eye Catcher. Domination has some purposes such as attract the attention, leave out the boredom and break the arrangement.

Focal point is not only just a limelight but also an important part of aesthetic element. It is the first point which is seen when entering a room. It throws out the attention of the corners of a house which is invaluable. That’s why it must be constructed as attractive as possible and also needed some special methods to determine your focal points into a place that you really want.

You can determine the focal point by choosing of your biggest furniture. Just like bedroom, couch, bookshelf or window with scenery, such as a yard or park. Instead of that, you still can use a painting, flower, unique and antique furniture as the solution in choosing the best focal point in your house. Suit the focal point which you’ve chosen to the contemporary furniture you have so that this focal point will attract more and more attention. Try to put a big painting on the wall with interesting picture above the couch. If possible, try to suit the color of the couch and the wall so that it will make the color of the painting to be dominant. You can also replace the painting with a mirror which has unique carved.

If you use a window facing a beautiful yard as your focal point, you can add some contemporary furniture around the window such as a unique table as eye catcher. Play out the color of the furniture is commonly a way to get focal point, for instance, by giving the contrast color on one of the wall of the room. If it’s dominantly cream color, you can paint deep brown or orange on one of the wall.

Add some lighting technique to the focal point you’ve chosen give dramatic impression and strengthening the focal point. It can be done by giving spotlight to the painting, lamp technique on the contrast wall or behind the wood furniture.
