The most important light
General lighting is the most basic lighting in every room, which its function is to provide light so the dwellers can do their activities. It does not need look so bright light but enough for the room, usually down light type lighting used to get flat lighting throughout the room.
Determine activities that need more light
Find parts or any area that is used to perform specific activities that require brighter light thus will require local lighting (task lighting). In the bedroom for example, we need task lighting to illuminate the reading, makeup, or even learn. In the kitchen, we need the local light to illuminate when cooking, cutting, and so on.
Use light dimmer
We can set the light overcast condition in accordance with our needs and wishes use a light dimmer. In the bedroom for example, we need a dimly lit lamp when we are sleeping but sometime we need bright light when doing other activities. This can be overcome by using a dimmer on a down light or on a desk lamp placed on the nightstand. Some designers even use dimmers to adjust the composition of the lamp to create the desired effect.
Provide night-lights
Some area or part of the house that we may pass on sleep hours, like stairs and hall to the toilet, should be provided an evening light dim whose function is simply to avoid these spaces into darkness that can be dangerous or difficult route.
Scattered light point
Rays originating from only one point will spread in all directions. Thus, the shadow will appear as well in all directions, which must be not so comfortable. Preferably, within a space large enough (greater than six meters square) there is more than one source of light. Even if a bit difficult to hold more than one source of light, we can make a point of light is branched into several points of the light. Of course, for which spaces are relatively small as the foyer, put a point light is good enough.
Try indirect lighting
Light source that from light bulbs should not be seen directly. Visible only light or reflection or trough intermediaries frosted glass lampshades or other media that are spreading the light. The visible light directly in space sometimes very disturbing eye comfort and less unsightly because the light becomes extremely uneven illumination in a room.
