Wine Storage Based on Term and Condition

Basically, people who love drinking wine not only appreciate the taste but also become wine collector. As wine collector, one probably has to store the collections well. The perfect storage for wine will keep the original taste preserved. There are many options of wine storage for home whether wine cabinet, refrigerator or cellar.

Wine cabinet or refrigerator is a convenient object for storing wines in short term condition (days up to months). If one has opened the wine cork but does not finish it both of them are well storage to do. Both are usually set in dining room, kitchen or home bar to get the homeowner reach the wine bottle easily.

Wine refrigerator is a small storage for wine that gives nothing to a room while wine cabinet is an attractive piece of furniture, adding interest to any room. When choosing a cabinet, the wine rack should place the bottle in lay side position. This is intended to moist the cork in order to keep the original flavor of wine. No matter how many bottles you store, should keep in mind that the best way for storing wine is in that position. Then wine cabinet should be placed against direct sunlight in order to avoid temperature fluctuations and humidity changes that could cause broken wine flavor.

Although the usage of wine cabinet and refrigerator is similar, but there are some conditions that make them are different. Refrigerator is the perfect storage for white wines, sparkling wines and champagne after opening. These mostly served at cold temperature or 46-57F (8-14C) for white wine and 43-47F (6-8C) for sparkling wines and champagne. While deep red wines usually served at room temperature or 59-66F (15-19C) makes wine cabinet suits to store it.

The other storage of wine is called “cellar” or “cave”. Cellar is the perfect place to store the wine collections for long term or years to come. Generally home cellar is built dark and cold under the home ground to maintain the humidity, temperature at right levels. The temperature of cellar has to closely similar to refrigerator to keep the real taste of wine.
